Music in Indigenous Religions from Asia

Examination of case studies from different parts of Asia to study the confluence of indigeneity, spirituality, and musical performance. Consideration of various perspectives on the meaning of indigenous sacred music by engaging with scholarship from disciplines ranging from ethnomusicology, anthropology, Asian Studies, and religious studies. Focus on series of monographs and engagement with field recordings, commercial music albums, fiction, and films from various parts of Asia.
