The session will cover the following topics: United States and Intercountry Adoption - locating Chinese adoption within the overall framework of American adoption historically and today. Chinese Adoption and Unparented Chinese Children - Where do the children in Chinese orphanages come from and where do they go? What orphans are left out of orphanages and why? What is the future of abandonment and adoption in China? What kind of care are orphans in China, as well as AIDS children, receiving? Where is the dividing line between governmental management and humanitarian support of unparented children in China?
