Chinese Arts Festival in New Haven (2 days): Lion Dance Parade and a Variety of Activities and Workshops

To celebrate the Year of the Snake, this two-day event will offer Chinese arts and cultural workshops and demonstrations that will be free to the public. Kick off the day on Saturday, March 2 at a Lion Dance Parade at 10:00 am on Whitney Avenue (between Grove and Trumbull Streets), then enjoy an afternoon of programs beginning at 1:00 pm, and join us for a final performance by the renowned EastRiver Ensemble at 4:00 pm at the New Haven Museum (114 Whitney Avenue). On Sunday, March 3, activities will take place in Henry R. Luce Hall, 34 Hillhouse Avenue from 1:00 to 3:30 PM. Activities include calligraphy and papercutting. There will also be a Fireside Chat with Audra Ang, a Beijing-based correspondent for the Associated Press from 2002 through 2009, who will be speaking about her new book, followed by a demonstration/performance by Xi Wang a renowned dancer of the Dai ethnic tribe peacock dance.
