Best of Both Worlds: Reconciling Comprehensible Input and Project-Based Learning in the Secondary CSL Classroom

As teachers, we want to give our students high-quality linguistic input to help them acquire Chinese, but we also want them to use the language and make it their own. Participants in this workshop will learn some strategies for how to reconcile the often-conflicting goals of Comprehensible Input methods and Project-Based Learning methods: how to strike a balance between getting enough high-quality input and giving students choice and voice in the learning process.

About the Presenter:

Mairead Harris (何小蔓) is a Chinese language teacher at Stowe Middle and High School, Associate Director of the Middlebury Chinese School, co-editor of Teaching Basic Chinese Grammar and a contributor to Go Far With Chinese.
