Following the popularity of the Taiwanese American Society (TAS) event with the Washington liaison of Taiwan’s Democratic Progressive Party last year, TAS is bringing in yet another insider to speak on the tumultuous relationship between Taiwan, China, and the US – award-winning actress/filmmaker Victoria Linchong. She will screen a sneak preview of her new documentary exploring Taiwanese identity in the context of regional geopolitics and will speak on her life as an Asian-American working in arts and activism. Who is Victoria Linchong? “I am a New York City native, born in the East Village to Taiwanese immigrants. I am a unique mix of uptown and down, rural Taiwan and inner city New York. I began working in theater on my own at the age of 14, first as an actress then (at the age of 17) as a producer. As an actress, I most notably was in Jeff Weiss’ HOT KEYS, which won an Obie Citation. As a producer, my credits include the world premiere of Tennessee Williams last short plays, several plays by James Purdy including one with Laurence Fishburne and an Obie Award winning anti-war event.”

This event is generously sponsored by the Council on East Asian Studies, Office of International Students and Scholars, and Undergraduate Organizations Committee.
