2016 Williams Prize Winners Announcement

The Council on East Asian Studies is happy to announce the winners of the 2016 Williams Prize Competition:

  • Frances Chan (Timothy Dwight College) for her essay submitted to the Department of History, How Liberal Korean and Taiwanese Textbooks Portray their Countries’ “Economic Miracles.”
     

  • Yunyi Chen (Ezra Stiles College) for her essay submitted to the Department of History, The Disputed Legacy of Political Struggle: The 1958 Sichuan Socialist Education Campaign and Its Aftermath.

Honorable Mention

  • John D’Amico (Pierson College) for his essay submitted to the East Asian Studies Program, Dōtonbori and Merchant Power in Early Modern Ōsaka.

We extend heartfelt congratulations to Frances, Yunyi, and John.  We would also like express our gratitude to all those who participated in this year’s competition.
