2018 Williams Prize Winners Announcement

The Council on East Asian Studies is happy to announce the winners of the 2018 Williams Prize Competition:

Charlotte Cotter (Grace Hopper College) for her essay submitted to the East Asian Studies Program, Alternative Marriage Practices of Wartime Urban China in Discourse and Practice (1937-1949).

Andrew Weiss (Davenport College) for his essay submitted to the East Asian Studies Program, Towards a Beautiful Japan: Right-Wing Religious Nationalism in Japan’s LDP

Honorable Mention

Josh Feng (Timothy Dwight College) for his essay submitted to the Department of Sociology and the East Asian Studies Program, Bite-Sized Culture: Culinary Performance, Urban Space and Constructions of Novelty in Taipei’s Tonghua (通化) Night Market

William Magliocco (Grace Hopper College) for his essay submitted to the Department of History, Forgotten Aspirations for an Independent Taiwan: October 1945 – March 1947
