Marina Kondo was born in Japan and raised in the United States. Her background as a Japanese – American led her to return to Tokyo to pursue her Bachelor’s degree. At the University of Tokyo, Marina studied East Asian Studies with a primary focus on Japan. After exploring various disciplines, Marina graduated the University of Tokyo with a B.A. in East Asian Studies and a sub-major in Cognitive and Behavioral Science. During her time in Tokyo, Marina worked as a bilingual translator and interned at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo. Her experiences at the embassy cultivated her passion for political science and international relations. At Yale, she plans to continue her focus on Japan and political science. In her free time, Marina loves cooking, traveling, watching movies, and drinking glorious amounts of coffee.
