Ann M. Altman - Elected Member, Legislative Council of the Town of Hamden (CT)
Ann M. Altman will discuss her experiences in UlaanBaatar in the summer of 2007, when she lectured to members of the Mongolian Democratic Party on local government, elections, and town planning. At private meetings, she talked about these issues with ex-Prime Minister Ts. Elbegdorj, the leader of the Party, who hopes to regain a majority in parliament after the general election next year, and with a member of parliament, who is working on the possibility of moving the seat of government from UlaanBaatar to Karakorum. Ann M. Altman is an elected member of the Legislative Council (the legislative and fiscal authority) of the Town of Hamden, CT , United States (1999-2005); appointed member (and Chair of the Zoning Section) of the Planning and Zoning Commission of the Town of Hamden (2005-2007). In addition to her political involvement, Ann is also Founder and Director of “Bioscript, an Editorial Service for the Biological and Medical Sciences” (1986 to present; editor of more than 7,500 scientific manuscripts, by predominantly Japanese scientists, that were published in, for example, “Science,” “Nature,” “Cell” and other major and minor journals). She received her PhD. in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University.
