Join Yale International Security Studies, the Alexander Hamilton Society, and Yale Taiwanese-American Society at the Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs on Wednesday, April 17 at 5 PM in Horchow Hall (GM Room) for a moderated discussion on US-Taiwan relations with Taiwan’s Head of UN Affairs and Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in NY, Ambassador James K.J. Lee and Yale International Security Studies Executive Director, Professor Ted Wittenstein. Light refreshments will be served during the opening reception.

This year marks the 45th anniversary of the Taiwan Relations Act (TRA), a cornerstone in the enduring partnership between Taiwan and the United States. We are honored to host Ambassador Lee, who will provide insightful perspectives on the significance of the TRA and its impact on Taiwan-U.S. relations over the past decades. This event promises to offer an in-depth look at the strategic, economic, and cultural ties that have flourished under the framework of the TRA, as well as discuss the path forward in strengthening this vital relationship. Throughout our conversation, we will touch on the achievements and challenges of Taiwan-U.S. relations and the role of the TRA in maintaining a free and open, connected, prosperous, secure, and resilient Indo-Pacific.

This event is made possible by co-sponsorship from the Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs, Yale Council on East Asian Studies, Yale Intercultural Affairs Council, and the Yale Asian American Cultural Center.

If you would like to be entered into a lottery for a post-event dinner with the Ambassador and professors working on Taiwan-related issues, please indicate this in the registration form here.
