2015 Williams Prize Winners Announcement

The Council on East Asian Studies is happy to announce the winners of the 2015 Williams Prize Competition:

Mikko Salovaara (Berkeley College) for his essay submitted to the East Asian Studies Program, “Microcosms of Empire: Bishu shanzhuang, Yuanmingyuan and Kew Gardens in the 18th Century.”

Ruoxi Yu (Berkeley College) for her essay submitted to the Anthropology Department, “The Girl with the Peanut Necklace: Experiences of Infertility and in vitro Fertilization in China.”

Honorable Mention

Aily Zhang (Silliman College) for her essay submitted to the Environmental Studies Program, “‘Let a Thousand Rice Paddies Bloom’: Social Eco-preneurs, Food Activism, and the Market-driven Sustainable Food Movement in Guangzhou, China.”

We extend heartfelt congratulations to Mikko, Ruoxi, and Aily.  We would also like express our gratitude to all those who participated in this year’s competition.
