Inter-Asia Meeting
Small & Large Group Discussions Around the Concept of "inter-Asia."
Please join us for our last meeting of the year! We will conduct small- and large-group discussions around the concept of “inter-Asia.”
Some questions we will discuss are: How can we make it a useful analytic for each of our research projects? What are the pragmatic challenges of conducting, getting funding, and finding jobs on inter-Asia research? Please see below for an overview of the Inter-Asia Initiative. A light dinner will be served. We hope to see you there!

The Inter-Asia Initiative
The Inter-Asia Initiative is an effort between Yale and six other universities and think tanks around the world (*1), established to create a new paradigm that takes Asia as an interlinked set of formations stretching from the East and Southeast Asia, to South Asia, Eurasia and the Middle East. Pushing inquiries beyond nation-states, land-based demarcations, imperial zones, and cultural boundaries, the Initiative promotes research and conversations that address transregional connections. For critical moments of interaction, we include historical and contemporary periods. The Initiative encourages collaborative research, scholarly networking, and public policy connections through a variety of activities (*2). It started with a modest seed fund from the MacMillan Center in 2008, and has been augmented by funds from various partners, recently, the Carneige Foundation.
