Ying Jia Tan’s research focuses on the history of energy in Modern China. His book manuscript Engines of Regime Change: Electrification of Revolutionary China, 1882-1962 explores the politics of electrical power consumption through eight decades of war and revolution. His research is supported by the Taiwan Fellowship (summer 2017) and D. Kim Foundation (AY 2018/2019).
